The Grand Canyon is known all around the world as a natural phenomenon. Tourists far and wide travel to this monumental landmark in Coconino County, Arizona. The Grand Canyon serves as a spot of interest for many because of its breathtaking beauty and the pure rarity of its formation. It is a source of pride for the United States of America. Now, though, the Grand Canyon is possibly under danger of mining claims.
The Petition
I was shocked when I found a petition to save the Grand Canyon from uranium mining on change.org. While this well-known natural beauty is currently under the protection of a mining moratorium which prevents the mining of the land, this safeguard is expected to end soon.
