Using a USB to find that files have been lost or wiped is a fairly common occurrence and files can be recovered by using a Recovery tool online (see Resources). However, when the problems are more specific to the USB stick it can be more complicated.

Cruzer is Not Recognized

The Cruzer may not be detected and the lauchpad may fail to start. If you receive a message saying "USB device not recognized" then it is likely that the drive has failed and more troubleshooting is unlikely to solve the problem.

However, if a message like this does not appear continue with troubleshooting. Verify that your computer operating system meets the minimum requirements for using the Cruzer 8GB, which is at least Windows XP SP2, Windows XP 2000 SP4 or Windows Vista standard. There may be a problem with the USB port you are using, which should show a light when you are using it. Try another USB port if the light does not show.
